The spray gun is for the large scale projects such as a whole body repaint or painting the entire door. They are also necessary for deep scratches that get into the primer or the bare metal.

After deciding on the scale of your project, you should spend some time choosing a colour.  I know this step sounds elementary, but choosing the colour you like before beginning your project will shave off large amounts of time in the auto body repair store. This can be done by walking around the streets or parking lots taking note of the models, makes, and colours that catch your eye. Taking note of these details will make it easier for a store clerk to help you as many of them will know the colour you are looking for based on the model and make.
